Trimble Introduces 3D BIM Consulting Services for MEP Contractors
Suite of Consulting Services Provide Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Contractors the Ability to Leverage Trimble's 3D Modeling and 3D Laser Scanning Expertise for Projects Requiring BIM Technologies and Processes
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) announced today 3D BIM Consulting Services for Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) contractors using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities. Trimble's services will include four elements: 3D Model Evaluation, 3D Modeling, 3D Laser Scanning and 3D Modeling from Scanned Point Cloud.
BIM, a 3D model representation of the physical and functional attributes of a facility, continues to shape the landscape for building construction. For MEP contractors, BIM provides significant cost savings benefits due to pre-planning, prefabrication, value engineering and coordination with other contractors. However, delivering BIM on a project often means owning and mastering multiple BIM software solutions. Trimble's consulting service model allows the MEP contractor to interface directly with the Trimble MEP 3D BIM Consulting Services team to easily fill the skills and/or technology gaps with rapid scalability.
Each consulting project is managed by a single Trimble project manager, acting as a liaison between the subcontractor and the team of 3D BIM modelers and subject matter experts within Trimble's MEP Division. "Partnering with MEP contractors and their BIM/CAD departments is ideal; we can supplement their existing resources by providing services for projects of all sizes. This allows our clients to use their staff in ways that are more efficient and productive," said Pat Bohle, general manager of Trimble's MEP Division. "Customers can receive a fully detailed building systems design from Trimble without over-taxing their internal modeling teams."
Trimble's 3D BIM Consulting Services for MEP contractors are available now. Details and contact information are located at: MEP.Trimble.com/services.
