TriMas' Richards Micro-Tool Announces Key Business Developments
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., July 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TriMas Corporation (Nasdaq: TRS) – a diversified global manufacturer of engineered and applied products – today announced that its Richards Micro-Tool business completed several key business developments. Among them:
- Release of its proprietary MediDrill™ and MediMill™ product lines;
- Expanded medical and dental capabilities via purchase of production equipment from Surgical Reconstruction, Inc.;
- Obtainment of ISO 13485 medical certification
New Product Lines and Expanded Manufacturing Capabilities
Richards Micro-Tool has recently released a proprietary line of MediDrill™ and MediMill™ cutting instruments for orthopedic surgeries, with an initial emphasis on spinal surgery applications. The Company also recently purchased Swiss turning machines and other production equipment from Surgical Reconstruction, Inc. The addition of Swiss turning machines to Richards Micro-Tool's existing equipment base is well suited for supplying cutting instruments and other devices to the medical and dental markets. Successful ISO 13485 Audit
Richards Micro-Tool recently completed an initial ISO 13485 audit; the audit's favorable findings mean the Company is now ISO 13485 certified. ISO 13485 represents the standard for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive management system for the design and manufacture of medical devices. Obtaining the ISO 13485 certification is an important step in solidifying Richards Micro-Tool's position as a critical supplier to the medical and dental markets.
