OAK BROOK, Ill., Nov. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- TricorBraun Design & Engineering Group announces the promotion of Matthew Ramsdell to Vice President, Design & Engineering. Formerly Director of Project Management, Ramsdell has been with TricorBraun since 2014. "Matt has made a tremendous contribution to creating a worry-free, results-oriented process for our customers from initiation and planning to commercialization and execution," says Becky Donner, Senior VP, Design & Engineering. She goes on to say that his attention to the technical details, his knowledge and experience have taken the team to a new level in terms of process improvement.
Some of the successful work that Ramsdell has been involved with at TricorBraun includes Triumph Pharmaceuticals SmartMouth, PL Developments and many more. SmartMouth involved a complex multi-component dispensing system designed to improve functionality and enhance the consumer experience. The challenge was in taking an existing design and making it manufacturable without losing the integrity of the design. The award-winning package achieved form, fit and function. According to Donner, the project charter that he has helped to create has made a significant impact on capturing project details upfront for a smoother, worry-free process from start to finish.
In his new role, Ramsdell will be responsible for managing design and engineering but also for the continued development of quality resources as they relate to the execution of custom packaging solutions. He is charged with leading the team in the effective and efficient transformation of concepts into manufacturable packaging components and systems with a focus on process optimization. Additionally, he will be prioritizing work, identifying design and engineering resource and training needs, analyzing results to effectively capture key metrics such as speed-to-market, and engaging with outside development partners.
Ramsdell has earned a BS in Packaging Science from Rochester Institute of Technology and has worked in package development for various CPG and packaging supply companies including Bayer Environmental Science in packaging innovation and Chesapeake (now MPS) in secondary packaging and Cadbury Schweppes (now Dr. Pepper Snapple Group) in food and beverage, for more than 20 years. "For me, TricorBraun is the mecca for a packaging nerd because I can work in multiple industries and categories. It's like being a kid in a candy store! I've been fascinated by packaging since I was a kid and dreamed about going to RIT. What we do at TricorBraun is what drives businesses. The way I look at it, people expect performance from products so if they have a bad experience with the package, they won't buy it again," says Ramsdell.
Donner explains, "We are thrilled to have Matt in this role and are confident that he will have a tremendously positive impact on our team and our customers. He already has! His approach, skill set and background will allow the team to continue to strengthen their own leadership capabilities while at the same time enhancing their project management skills and ultimately delivering a stronger impact for our customers."
