Tri-anim Health Services signs master distribution agreement with Ambu for videoscopes, airway and pain management products
DUBLIN, Ohio, Sept. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sarnova, parent company of specialty healthcare products distributor Tri-anim Health Services, announced today that it has entered into a master distribution agreement with Ambu. The agreement begins October 1, 2015 and covers distribution in the United States for Ambu® aScope™3 videoscope products, as well as the Ambu® King Vision™ video laryngoscope products, Ambu® AuraGain™ disposable laryngeal masks and the Ambu® ACTion™ line of pain management products.
Jeff Prestel, President & CEO of Sarnova, said about the deal, "This expanded distribution agreement supports our mission to be the best partner to those who save and improve patients' lives by being the best advocate for our vendor partner's therapies. The Tri-anim team is very excited to be able to provide the Ambu product line to our customers. These products will help our customers to better care for their patients, improve patient safety and ultimately help reduce the total cost of care."
"The market is demanding single-use videoscopes, and the Ambu® aScope™3 line fulfills this need perfectly," explained Mr. Prestel. In a recent FDA Safety Communication ("Infections Associated with Reprocessed Flexible Bronchoscopes" September 17, 2015) the FDA outlined critical information regarding infections associated with the use of reprocessed, reusable flexible bronchoscopes and the steps that healthcare providers should take to mitigate possible risks to patients.
The innovative Ambu® aScope™ 3 line solves three key challenges: It is instantly available, easy to transport and importantly, it is sterile straight from the pack with no further handling and reprocessing. In short, aScope 3 is about enhancing patient safety and productivity at an affordable price. The agreement between Ambu and Tri-anim Health Services provides exclusive distribution rights on the Ambu® aScope™ 3, Ambu® aScope™ 3 Slim and the Ambu® aView™.
This distribution agreement is important to Ambu as it broadens the reach of the new generation of Ambu® aScope™ products. Lars Marcher, CEO of Ambu, said, "Ambu is dedicated to the development of innovative products that help save lives and simplify workflow of the anesthetists to the benefit of the patients. We are excited to be partnering with Tri-anim Health Services to expand distribution of the Ambu® aScope™ 3 in the United States. Tri-anim, with its extensive relationships with hospitals, IDNs and GPOs, will help us serve many more customers."
The Ambu® ACTion™ pumps are also part of the agreement. The ACTion pain pumps are unique single-use pumps with innovative flow regulating and bolus technology. They are used for post-operative pain management and are often used in connection with surgeries that will result in severe and prolonged post-operative pain. The use of pain pumps can substantially reduce the need for narcotics that are typically used to manage post-operative pain, in many patients. Consequently, patients do not experience as many of the related side effects associated with narcotics, such as post-operative nausea, vomiting and respiratory depression.
Lee Still, Vice President of Sales for Tri-anim Health Services added, "Tri-anim is looking forward to rounding out its offering of pain management solutions with the Ambu® ACTion™ Pain Pump products. These innovative products enable anesthetists to tailor their approach to pain management to meet the needs of each patient."
The agreement also encompasses Tri-anim's continued distribution of other key Ambu products, including the Ambu® King Vision™, a series of high performance portable video laryngoscopes, and the Ambu ® AuraGain™, a 3rd generation laryngeal mask, an anatomically curved, single-use device that facilitates rapid establishment of a safe airway.
