Trex Company Introduces New Post and Joist Options for Trex Elevations®
Latest Components Create Complete High-Performance Steel Deck Framing System
WINCHESTER, Va., April 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Trex Company, the world's largest manufacturer of wood-alternative decking and railing products, is rounding out its high-performance Trex Elevations® Steel Deck Framing System with the addition of a new galvanized steel post and joists in a greater range of lengths. These innovations join a range of recent system improvements – including a stair solution and beam end caps – that are designed to offer even greater benefits to contractors and consumers.
Trex Elevations Deck Support Post
Making it possible for contractors to construct a deck substructure made entirely of steel, the Trex Elevations Deck Support Post offers a preferable solution to pressure-treated lumber posts, which may warp, rot, twist, split or decay.
Along with the other Trex Elevations system components, the new post is fire-resistant and offers extreme durability and stability – allowing contractors to benefit from reduced callbacks and increased homeowner satisfaction. Both easy to cut and easy to build with, Elevations deck posts also offer superior protection against wood-boring insects compared to pressure-treated lumber. A 25-Year Limited Residential Warranty provides additional peace of mind.
"From the ground up, contractors may now construct a complete steel deck framing system – providing homeowners with unparalleled low maintenance and high performance," said Ronald W. Kaplan, chairman, president and CEO of Trex. "Trex Elevations is simply the smartest choice for a long-lasting deck substructure that couples superior longevity and aesthetics."
The Trex Elevations Deck Support Post is manufactured by The Iron Shop, based in Pennsylvania, under a trademark licensing agreement with Trex. It is available in a 10' standard length that is individually packaged for direct delivery to a jobsite – as well as in custom sizes.
Expanded Joist Lengths
Designed to create greater time- and cost-efficiencies, Trex Elevations joists are now available in one-foot length increments – ranging from 8' through 20'. These new options provide contractors with the ability to construct a deck to the nearest foot, which significantly reduces the number of jobsite cuts required and lowers the cost of labor for homeowners.
In addition, since contractors may specify more precise joist lengths for their projects, less waste is produced. With near-custom lengths available, material costs are lower for the contractor – and consequently, for the consumer.
"We continuously improve the Trex Elevations system to create greater value for both homeowners and our professional partners," said Kaplan. "As the industry leader, we remain committed to driving overall awareness of the Elevations steel deck substructure, while also raising the bar for future competitive offerings."
