The Chaim Sheba Medical Center (SMC) at Tel-Hashomer, Israel is the largest and most comprehensive medical center in the Middle East where close to 7,000 healthcare professionals perform around 4 million procedures to over 1 million patients per year. SMC combines six major facilities: a vast medical research complex, medical education academic campus, acute care hospital, children's hospital, women's hospital and the country's main rehabilitation hospital.
Alongside emphasizing compassionate patient care, the Sheba campus combines innovative scientific research, comprehensive medical training and teaching. SMC is also a major medical-scientific research powerhouse that collaborates internationally with the biotech and pharmaceutical industries to develop new drugs, treatments and technologies, and a foremost global center for medical education. It is a university-affiliated tertiary referral hospital that serves as Israel's national medical center in many fields.
Together with the hospital's research staff and world-renowned physicians, Trendlines Labs collaborates in the development of new ideas and intellectual property. This collaboration with Trendlines Labs brings together a multidisciplinary team of technology experts with medical professionals to develop innovative solutions for unmet clinical needs. Trendlines Labs cooperates with doctors during any stage of product development from proof of concept through to prototype.
Dr. David Shashar, manager of the Medical Device Invention Unit at the Sheba Medical Center's Technology Transfer Company: "Constructing collaborations at SMC is aimed at accelerating the development of cost-effective technological solutions to pressing clinical problems. We believe in embracing team work in the problem solution process between those who know the clinical issues and those who know available technologies well, to achieve widespread adoption of the best ideas, evaluation of projects and proof of efficacy. Working with Trendlines Labs has been an exciting and outstanding opportunity for innovative physicians from our medical staff. The Trendlines Labs team is exceptional in their experience, knowledge, untraditional thinking and their capabilities to move projects forward. From the stage of a general idea, we have progressed in a number of projects to prototype development, bench studies, animal trials and early human clinical trials."
Yosi Hazan, CEO of Trendlines Labs: "This collaboration follows two recent agreements for Trendlines Labs: one with a major U.S. hospital and another with a key health organization in Israel. It is further evidence of the extent and interest of hospitals in seeking collaborative efforts like those we offer at Trendlines Labs. Our solutions are global, not local. We are currently in discussions with hospitals in the United States and Canada in the hopes of signing more agreements of this nature."
