Trend Micro is Keeping Up with the (Digital) Joneses
New year-long study launched to help protect modern families from Internet threats
CUPERTINO, Calif., March 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704; TSE: 4704), a global cloud security leader, today announced the Digital Joneses Campaign (US), a national study designed to examine the issues affecting modern, digitally-connected households and educate families on how to maintain a digital life securely. The US campaign is a part of a larger global initiative, which was rolled out in the United Kingdom in January to compare Internet use across more than just one city, one region and one country, to help families around the world.
Trend Micro has selected prominent bloggers and their families to participate in monthly challenges that will improve and examine the struggles each family experiences with modern technology. Each challenge will identify and address one facet of digital security that is affecting living in a modern, digitally-connected household. The first challenge is to complete the Digital Joneses IQ Quiz to determine how much they and their families know about Internet safety. Once they finish they can share their results and the quiz with their families and social networks so others can see how safety-savvy they are.
"We know that most families, like the bloggers who are participating in the study, rely on the convenience and ease-of-use that technology offers to juggle their busy lives," said Carol Carpenter, general manager of consumer Trend Micro. "However, we don't know if families are aware of the potential threats they can run into and more importantly if they're armed with the information they need to help educate their kids. That's why we're so thrilled about this campaign and we hope others can identify with our seven Digital Joneses families to help raise Internet safety awareness among families around the world."
In the US, Trend Micro has selected seven bloggers with families from various regions around the country and children ranging from pre-school to high school.
