Tremont Plaza Hotel Welcomes Four Star Culinary Specialist
BALTIMORE, Feb. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Tremont Plaza Hotel is proud to introduce Sheldon McPherson as the Culinary Specialist at the Tremont Plaza Hotel in downtown Baltimore. McPherson will oversee all aspects of culinary development at the hotel's three onsite dining establishments as well as culinary efforts at the Tremont Grand, the hotel's 45,000 square feet of historic meeting space.
McPherson worked closely with the Tremont Plaza's current Food and Beverage Director, Laine Blaker, at the 4-star/4-diamond hotel Casa Monica in St. Augustine, Florida. McPherson was the Chef de Cuisine at the hotel's renowned restaurant 95 Cordova, as well as the hotel's wine bar, deli market, and 20,000 square feet of banquet space. Blaker and McPherson also collaborated in culinary efforts at the Hilton in St. Augustine, a boutique luxury hotel. McPherson developed an Asian Fusion menu for the hotel's restaurant Aviles.
McPherson was hired as a consulting chef at various restaurants in Florida and Texas, including The Ranch House in Forth Worth prior to joining the Tremont family. He is most proud of his work with the students at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, where he trained deaf and blind students in cooking who later went to work in restaurants themselves.
"We are excited to have Sheldon's experience and expertise at the Tremont Plaza Hotel. His dedication to the job and knowledge of the industry will be nothing but beneficial to our extraordinary culinary team the Tremont Plaza," says Blaker.
