SEATTLE, July 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- AGC's Construction Leadership Council will donate jeans to Treehouse, the Seattle-based nonprofit which gives youth in foster care a childhood and a future, as one of many back-to-school drives throughout Washington to support our most vulnerable population statewide.
Any individual, group or organization can host a back-to-school drive for Treehouse. There are almost 9,000 youth in foster care in the state, and Treehouse works with more than 7,500 of them across its many programs. Workplaces, schools and churches are all invited to give kids in foster care the things they need to start the school year off with confidence.
"The reliability and durability of jeans have always supported the men and women in the construction industry, and now AGC's Construction Leadership Council will pass along the gift of dependable clothing to Washington's youth in foster care," said Shannon Benya, AGC's CLC Committee Philanthropy Chair.
AGC has been a longtime supporter and played a pivotal role in making important upgrades to Treehouse's free store for youth in foster care, where the jeans will be distributed.
Quality backpacks for children and teens are in high demand, as well as shoes and accessories. Any monetary donations will go to fund a variety of extracurricular activities and services from gymnastics and piano lessons to haircuts.
"With our drive host toolkits, you'll get everything you need to rally your community to collect new clothes, backpacks and monetary donations," said Dana Petrarca, Community Engagement Officer at Treehouse. "Hosting a drive has never been easier."
Any organization or individual interested in hosting a back-to-school donation drive can visit the "Host a Drive or Event" page at www.treehouseforkids.org to sign up. Contact Treehouse at 206.267.5109 or [email protected] with any questions.
