In 2006, Travelocity created Travel for Good, the first program of its kind by a major travel company, to offer travelers a way to easily connect with voluntourism organizations. Each quarter Travelocity awards $5,000 grants to travelers who submit YouTube videos explaining why you deserve to go. Grants are applicable for trips through the leading voluntourism organizations in the world, including: Cross Cultural Solutions, Globe Aware, Earthwatch Institute and American Hiking Society. Travelocity's latest Travel for Good grant winner, Cinde Dolphin, will be traveling to Tanzania to participate in the Cross Cultural Solutions, a nonprofit program working to address critical global issues by providing meaningful volunteer service to communities abroad.
"Travelocity believes that the gift of travel comes with responsibility to leave the destination better than how you found it," explains Scott. "To uphold that responsibility, it is important that I give back to the destinations I visit. I've been lucky to participate in four voluntourism projects through the Let's Roam series so far, including New York City, Dallas, St. John, and now Colombia."
