Travel Guard North America Enhances MedEvac Plan to Include Coverage for Evacuation Due to Security Concerns
STEVENS POINT, Wis., May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Travel Guard North America (www.travelguard.com), a leading provider of travel insurance and assistance plans, has enhanced the benefits in its annual and per trip MedEvac plans to now include coverage for $100,000 to evacuate an insured due to security reasons that can include civil unrest, natural disasters, political or military events in the host country, government warnings issued by the host country mandating that U.S. citizens should leave the host country, and other verified causes that put the insured traveler at risk. The determination that a security evacuation is warranted must be made in advance by Travel Guard's security consultants.
Travel Guard's MedEvac plan covers 100% of the costs associated with a medical evacuation to the insured's hospital of choice or home. It is one of the few evacuation plans available that also includes coverage for emergency medical expenses due to illnesses or injuries sustained by insureds during their travels.
"Traveling internationally or living abroad can be very exciting and provide memorable, life enhancing experiences," said Dan McGinnity, vice president for Travel Guard North America. "At the same time, Americans traveling outside the United States can face unpredictable situations that can become especially stressful when you're not familiar with the local culture, medical system or political culture."
"We've re-engineered our MedEvac plan to provide security evacuation as well as medical evacuation benefits to address a broader range of situations that travelers may encounter. It puts emergency response and medical and travel assistance at the fingertips of our customers when they're traveling internationally or domestically."
The MedEvac plan can be purchased individually or per family, annually or per trip:
- The per trip MedEvac plan covers 100% of the costs for a medical evacuation for each person covered by the plan. It also provides up to $100,000 for a security evacuation due to a covered reason and $50,000 for emergency medical expenses for each person covered by the plan.
- The annual MedEvac plan provides coverage for all trips taken and completed within 365 days of the date the plan cost is paid. The annual MedEvac plan covers 100% of the medical evacuation costs for up to two evacuations per person, per year. It also provides up to $100,000 for a security evacuation due to a covered reason and up to $50,000 for emergency medical expenses for each person covered by the plan.
Both the annual and per trip MedEvac plans include Travel Guard's 24-hour emergency travel, medical and personal assistance services.
