Travel Advantage Network Helps to Mend Little Hearts
Employees support Mended Little Hearts of Greater Baltimore
MILLERSVILLE, Md., Sept. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Travel Advantage Network, a vacation accommodations program, dedicated its charitable fundraising efforts for the month of August to Mended Little Hearts of Greater Baltimore. Mended Little Hearts is a program of Mended Hearts Inc., a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that provides hope, help and healing to heart patients and their families.
Each month, a Travel Advantage Network employee selects a charity for the company to support and plans company activities and events to help raise funds for that cause. Flavia Oleniewski, web designer and developer, and Jennifer Ross, account administrator senior specialist, chose Mended Little Hearts because both of their sons were born with congenital heart defects.
"My husband and I were devastated when we found out that our son would be born with severe heart defects. Mended Little Hearts has been invaluable resource and support network for my family. As a result, I wanted to raise money to help them support other families going through similar experiences," said Oleniewski.
To raise funds, Oleniewski and Ross put together a variety of events which included an Apple iPad raffle, a 50/50 drawing, pay- to-wear jeans days, silent auction tickets to Orioles and Ravens games and more. In total, more than $2,000 was raised by employees to help Mended Little Hearts of Greater Baltimore.
"As a parent of two children with heart defects and disease, nothing is more comforting than knowing you are not alone in this journey. Mended Little Hearts makes you feel like you are part of a family," explained Ross.
