Travel Advantage Network Employee Rides For A Cure
Employee cycles across the country in 4K for Cancer
MILLERSVILLE, Md., Feb. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In an effort to help find a cure for cancer, Travel Advantage Network employee Christopher Say plans to cycle coast to coast in a 70 day, 4,000 mile journey that will begin in Baltimore, Maryland and end in San Diego, California.
Say is a junior at the University of Maryland, University College and joined Travel Advantage Network, a vacation accommodations program, as an intern in the summer of 2012 and now works part-time in the IT department.
"I want to educate, promote awareness and raise money to help find a cure for this disease that affects so many people. To me, four thousand miles is nothing compared to the tumultuous trials cancer patients have to endure," Say explained.
Each month, a Travel Advantage Network employee selects a charity for the company to support and plans activities and events for employees to participate in to help raise funds for that cause. Say's charity is 4K for Cancer, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing lives by supporting, educating and connecting young adults, and their loved ones, affected by cancer.
Say raised over $1,500 for his charity through various events such as a 50/50 raffle, a month long penny wars game, pay-to-wear-jeans to work day, and personally delivered dancing holiday grams to fellow employees. Say also offered dedicated miles that employees could purchase throughout his trip where he will write the donor's name of choice on either his arm or leg in their honor.
