PLEASANTON, Calif., May 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --Trapeze Networks, a Belden Brand (NYSE: BDC) and leader in enterprise wireless LAN equipment and management software, today announced on Thursday, May 6 it will kick off a new series of educational webinars featuring a panel of three knowledgeable network directors. Panelists will discuss a range of topics focusing on how they chose, deployed and now manage wireless LANs in their school districts and what factors were critical to their success.
"Schools want to extend reliable connectivity and mobility to students and staff with a WLAN solution that delivers hassle-free deployment, central management and top-flight security," said Dhrupad Trivedi, president, Trapeze Networks. "In its new educational webinar series, Trapeze and its customers will share real-world experiences so network managers are better informed regarding technology options, management and affordability," said Dhrupad Trivedi, president, Trapeze Networks.
The three networking professionals will discuss current issues and best practices for planning, deploying and running wireless networks in their schools. They will outline the wireless networks they have installed in their districts, the issues they faced and how they overcame the challenges.
- Fulton County Schools, Georgia, the 4th largest school district in Georgia, 67th in the U.S. Executive Director, Infrastructure Services Michael Murray will highlight Fulton County's experiences deploying a wireless network in less than one year to 100 schools in a district extending 70 miles NE and SW of Atlanta.
- Livermore Valley Joint USD, California, serving 13,000 students in twenty locations. ISS Specialist Kevin Peterson will highlight how Livermore Valley Schools implemented a wireless LAN and integrated the emergency services city (population: 84,000) with the school system's wireless LAN to improve service delivery and to be better prepared to use schools in the case of a civil emergency.
- Burlington Area Schools, Wisconsin, serving 3,600 students in a suburb of Milwaukee and its surroundings.
- Director of Technology Scott Christensen will describe the selection and deployment of a low maintenance, centrally-managed wireless LAN including wireless access at the High School's football stadium where both athletic staff and press access the Internet to monitor weather and record scoring results directly online.
These schools and many others are installing or upgrading wireless networks to provide reliable and seamless access to the school network and the Internet not only for students and faculty but also for the many people using schools for athletics, meetings and events. By adding wireless networking, the school's network turns into an expandable and flexible platform onto which the school and community can add applications and services in coming years.
