Trapeze Networks Gives Olympic College Wi-Fi at Every Point of Learning

PLEASANTON, Calif., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Trapeze Networks, a Belden Brand (NYSE: BDC) and leader in enterprise wireless LAN equipment and management software, today announced the state of Washington's Olympic College will deploy Trapeze's Wi-Fi infrastructure solutions in its comprehensive wireless networking system.  Covering more than 37 acres on three campuses in two counties, Olympic College will give advanced Wi-Fi connectivity to more than 12,000 students plus staff.

Founded in 1946, Olympic College is a public two-year community college with campuses in Bremerton, Poulsbo and Shelton, Washington.  Growth was creating the demand for advanced wireless networking capabilities.  With an increase in students from new fields of study as well as the opening of two newly-constructed buildings, Olympic College needed to significantly increase its wireless LAN (WLAN) capacity and solve coverage requirements.  In addition to distant learning applications, more and more students and teachers were using wireless capabilities in laptops and mobile hand-held client devices to access class content in the cloud.

Olympic College decided to upgrade to a 10G fiber optic backbone and replace its existing Cisco WLAN infrastructure.  Trapeze was chosen because its wireless infrastructure solutions enable secure, scaleable wireless applications that are easy-to-use and manage.  The Trapeze Mobility System deployment for Olympic College comprises two MX-200 Mobility Exchange® intelligent wireless LAN controllers, 90 MP-82 Mobility Point® access points and Mobility System Software®.  The configuration will be managed by RingMaster® management software and campus-wide guest access is managed by SmartPass™, Trapeze Networks' guest access management solution.
