Transwestern's Atlanta Office Raises $17,133 for the Make-A-Wish® Georgia's 9th Annual Walk for Wishes Event
Team Raises Enough Funds to Grant Two Deserving Georgia Children a Wish
ATLANTA, May 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Transwestern today announced its Atlanta office raised $17,133 for Make-A-Wish® Georgia, in support of the foundation's 9th annual Walk for Wishes event held on April 20, 2013. These funds will support in excess of two wishes, according to the foundation. Each wish fulfills a critically ill child's dream of being something, meeting someone, traveling somewhere or having something come true.
"I am so proud of our Transwestern team and their family members whose efforts raised enough funds to grant two deserving Georgia children their wishes," said Bruce Ford, president of Transwestern's Southeast territory. "The Make-A-Wish® foundation is an incredible cause that helps to lift the spirits of local families while uniting entire communities through its mission."
More than 2,000 people joined together at Turner Field Grand Plaza in downtown Atlanta to take part in the Walk for Wishes and walk a two-mile route to the Georgia State Capital and back to the stadium. After the walk, participants interacted with 'Wish' children, played games in Scouts Alley, enjoyed refreshments and visited sponsor tents. As of May 10, 2013, approximately $275,000 had been raised to grant more than 34 wishes of local Georgia children with life-threatening medical conditions.
In February 2013, Transwestern selected Make-A-Wish® as its charity partner in the Southeast. Throughout the year, Transwestern's Atlanta and South Florida offices plan to participate in various Make-A-Wish® activities, spearheading internal events and a friendly office competition to raise funds and encourage employees to embrace charitable stewardship. So far this year, Transwestern's team members and its partners have raised a combined total of nearly $32,000 to benefit both the Make-A-Wish® Georgia and South Florida chapters.
"Companies like Transwestern enable us to continue our mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy," said John J. Brennan, CEO of Make-A-Wish® Georgia. "We are very appreciative of Transwestern's support as one of our top fundraising companies for the 2013 Walk for Wishes."
