Transwestern Team Members Raise More Than $34,000 For Movember Foundation

HOUSTON, Dec. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Transwestern today announces its team members raised $34,317 for the Movember Foundation, a global organization committed to changing the face of men's health. More than 35 professionals participated by growing mustaches to raise awareness for men's health issues.

Transwestern Executive Vice President Caulley Deringer, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2011, has inspired Transwestern's Movember efforts for the past two years. Deringer's Movember team was the top fundraising team with 10 people or fewer in 2012 and 2013. The team raised $31,067 in 2014, making it the 30^th highest ranking team nationally for fundraising. Men on Transwestern's separate Movember team raised the remaining $3,250. Deringer was the 10^th top individual fundraiser in the U.S. this year and third individual fundraiser in 2012 and 2013.

"Too many men are dying unnecessarily from cancer exclusive to men," said Deringer. "Current treatments are pretty good, but pretty good simply is not good enough. I am truly blessed to be in good health myself and am proud to be able to contribute to a foundation dedicated to helping those who are not. The Movember community has raised $559 million to date and funded more than 800 programs in 21 countries. The Movember Foundation challenges men to grow mustaches during November to spark conversation and raise vital funds for men's health issues, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health issues.
