"We were honored to host this event dedicated to inspiring all Americans, especially our younger generations, to pursue a life of physical fitness and wellness," said Transportation Insight Chairman and Founder Paul Thompson. "We encourage all of our associates to be physically active to promote their better overall quality of life, and this event gave us the opportunity to expand that encouragement to all of America's youth."
The Presidential Youth Fitness Program replaces the longstanding President's Council Youth Fitness test, which first began in 1966, and emphasizes the value of living a physically active and fit life in school and beyond. The goal of the program partners is to implement the program in 90% of the 101,000 U.S. public schools by 2020.
"Since its founding, Transportation Insight has been a company that values the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health of its associates," said Josh Walker, Vice President of Organizational Development at Transportation Insight. "The Presidential Youth Fitness Program encourages young people to start their own healthy life journey early on. It aligns perfectly with our belief in the importance of a healthy and physically active lifestyle."
In addition to PCFSN, program partners for the PYFP include: American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD); Amateur Athletic Union (AAU); Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); The Cooper Institute; and The NFFSN.
