TransPerfect Acquires Astoria Software
Merger Brings Together Industry Leaders to Provide Corporate Customers with More Efficient Authoring and Translation of Global Content
NEW YORK and SAN FRANCISCO, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- TransPerfect, a world leader in translation services and technology, and Astoria Software, a leader in software-as-a-service (SaaS)/on-demand Component Content Management (CCM) software, today announced that they have completed a merger. The combination of Astoria and TransPerfect will significantly enhance the customer experience for a growing client base that is increasingly interested in achieving the maximum time- and cost-efficiencies in the authoring, translation, and publishing of global content. Financial details were not disclosed.
San Francisco-based Astoria Software will join the TransPerfect family of companies and will continue to be led by current CEO Michael Rosinski. Before joining Astoria, Michael was a founding member of American Software's management team, where he was responsible for growing revenues to more than $100 million and completing one of the first successful IPOs in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) market segment.
According to TransPerfect Co-CEO Phil Shawe, "Astoria is one of most respected names in the CCM space. We couldn't be more delighted to welcome their entire team to TransPerfect. Following a partnership which was announced last November, we've had the pleasure of working closely with Michael Rosinski and his management team. Both companies share an unwavering commitment to providing innovative solutions to customers with complex content requirements. The cultural fit between Astoria and TransPerfect couldn't be more aligned." Shawe continued, "The integration of our GlobalLink™ products with Astoria's offering provides clients with a seamless end-to-end solution for managing global documentation at the enterprise level."
A key client benefit of the merger will be the integration of the companies' complementary technologies. TransPerfect develops and markets a family of GMS (Globalization Management System) software products, known as GlobalLink™, that make translation workflows more efficient for corporate customers. Clients seeking to author and translate global content in XML, while adhering to DITA standards, will experience the greatest gains from the integration of Astoria/TransPerfect technology.
Joe DiSabato, an Astoria board member, shareholder and managing director with Goldman Sachs' investment group, echoed sentiments about the strategic fit between the two companies. "We have been a long-term investor in Astoria, and have seen the company grow, mature and make a successful transition to a SaaS business model. We believe that the TransPerfect/Astoria team will continue to enjoy great success."
Rosinski added, "Our partnership with TransPerfect has already generated demonstrable success and set the standard for Translation-Enabled Content Management. We've succeeded in uniting XML content management and XML translation management within a single, secure, seamless and cost-effective solution. As merger partners, we look forward to creating even more robust and innovative solutions for our customers."
The combined companies generate over $220 million in annual revenue from 60 offices worldwide, and together have over 300 deployments of enterprise-level technology that manage global content.
