TransMedia Group Retained to Paddle Kayak Champions Into Media Spotlight as They Attempt to Break A 31-Year Old Bimini to Florida Kayaking Record
BOCA RATON, Fla., Oct. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Kayak Gold Medalists Bruce Gipson of Boca Raton and Lee McGregor of South Africa retained TransMedia Group to put media waves behind their attempt to break a world record Bruce set 31 years ago when he was in his 30s.
TransMedia (www.transmediagroup.com) will plan and implement a PR campaign for the event next month that will help also to raise awareness and funds for Wounded Warriors of South Florida (www.wwofsf.org), said Gabriela Vega, TransMedia Director of Public Relations and Adventure Travel.
"Our publicity will paddle their illustrious kayak backgrounds into the picture, including how they first made the trek from Bimini to Fort Lauderdale, breaking the record for fastest crossing of the Gulf Stream under human power by sea kayak," she said.
TransMedia said it will highlight how it took 11 hours, 46 minutes and no one has since broken that record.
"Our publicity also will show how McGregor became Olympic Swimming Captain for South Africa during the 1972 Munich Olympic Games and was South African Surf Ironman Champion in 2002, won numerous Gold Medals, coached Junior and Senior World Titles and how Florida native Bruce Gipson won over 150 kayak racing events and championships."
Besides providing publicity, TransMedia said it was retained to assist in finding sponsors for the record breaking attempt.
