Transforming the Role of the Higher Education CIO - Enterasys Convenes CIO Panel at EDUCAUSE 2012
Michael Krigsman Moderates Panel of the Industry's Most Innovative CIOs Discussing Roadmap to the "Social Campus"
ANDOVER, Mass., Nov. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterasys Networks, a Siemens Enterprise Communications company, today announced prominent analyst, consultant and blogger Michael Krigsman will moderate a panel of industry-leading higher education CIOs who will share how they have transformed their roles to thrive in today's high-pressure university environment. In the face of the continuing stagnant economy, technology upheaval, vicious competition, and the proliferation of Massively Open On-line Courses (MOOCs) these innovative CIOs have found paths to success. The panel is hosted by Enterasys CMO and Chief Customer Officer Vala Afshar (Twitter: @ValaAfshar).
Participating on the Educause panel are Philip Komarny, CIO at Seton Hill University; David Waldron, VP of Information Technology, St. Edward's University; and Joanna Young, CIO at University of New Hampshire. These CIOs, along with nine others, participated in Krigsman's project to assess how successful university CIOs have innovatively adapted and transformed to be successful in the evolved university environment. The project, sponsored by Enterasys, culminated in a report, entitled "Innovation and Transformation: Going Beyond the Social Campus" which will be available at Educause 2012. Through extensive data, case studies, and examples, the report provides a roadmap to success for university CIOs. It describes how CIOs must be acutely responsive to the business needs of the school - by forming a strategic partnership with the school's business managers - or risk becoming marginalized. Krigsman defines social campus as an educational institution that combines technology and organizational transformation to dramatically increase responsiveness and innovation.
"It's been our distinct pleasure to sponsor Michael Krigsman's ground-breaking research," said Vala Afshar, Chief Customer and Marketing Officer at Enterasys Networks. "Enterasys provides our customers not only with the ideal campus network infrastructure, but also the strategic guidance needed for leadership in Higher Education."
The Social Campus and the Innovative CIO panel will be held Thursday, November 9th, 8:00 a.m. in the Mile High Ballroom 4E/4F at Educause 2012.
Michael Krigsman and Vala Afshar will both be available to meet with the media at Educause, November 7-9. If interested in meeting Michael and Vala, along with CIOs at EDUCAUSE 2102 please email Enterasys PR at [email protected].
In addition to the panel, Enterasys will host a Tweet-up (hashtag #socialCIO) at their booth (#1709) immediately following the panel discussion, providing another opportunity for show attendees and others to interact with the panel participants, including the three education CIOs, who can share their thoughts about The Social Campus. The first 25 people to at the Tweet-up will receive a copy of the new book, The Pursuit of Social Business Excellence, by Vala Afshar and Brad Martin.
