TransCanada Turbines commissions state of the art engine test facility for GE LM6000 series gas turbines
HOUSTON, Feb. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- TransCanada Turbines (TCT), a joint venture between TransCanada Corporation and Wood Group GTS, has completed construction and commissioning of a purpose-built test cell in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This latest investment provides TCT with capability for full load testing of the popular GE LM6000 gas turbine used for power generation applications.
TCT has provided a comprehensive maintenance service for operators of GE LM6000 series gas turbines since 2002. This new facility enables TCT to provide incoming engine test, troubleshooting and diagnostic services for PA, PB, PC, PD and PF variants of the LM6000 gas turbine. Test cell design features, including quick release mechanisms for essential engine services, will enhance TCT's ability to respond to customer requirements, including unscheduled arisings.
"Design of this facility was a collaborative effort, bringing together the best field and operational experience from within TransCanada, Wood Group and TCT, resulting in test cell operation that is both efficient and effective," said Dan Simonelli, president, TCT. "Investment in new infrastructure will ensure our customers continue to receive a high level of service and we're able to meet the future demands of this market."
