CHICAGO, Sept. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ICAP Patent Brokerage, a division of ICAP plc and the world's largest intellectual property and patent auction firm, today announced that it will offer a Covenant Not to Sue (CNS) from Tramontane IP, LLC at its upcoming CNS Auction September 27th in Los Angeles. The CNS covers Tramontane's patent portfolio of 10 patents. Tramontane has engaged IP Navigation Group as its monetization advisor with respect to its patent portfolio.

The patents covered by this CNS disclose technologies related to a wide range of techniques used to display and extract information from GPS navigation devices and systems. For example, the portfolio discloses technologies directed to identifying points of interest based on vehicle position and direction, presenting distance information between remote locations and points of interest, integrating navigation information into an audio entertainment system, presenting "mapless" GPS information, and identifying information (e.g., weather information) based on GPS data.
Tramontane is currently engaged in litigation with companies including:
- Garmin International, Inc./ Garmin USA, Inc.
- MiTAC Digital Corporation
- Mio Technology USA Ltd.
- Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.
- TomTom, Inc.
A CNS is an agreement that prevents assertion of a party's right to litigation. A company entering into a CNS with respect to the Tramontane's patents would gain the freedom to operate under them, and would avoid the uncertainty inherent in patent infringement litigation.
Starting today, ICAP Patent Brokerage will accept anonymous bids on the Tramontane CNS. To learn more about the assets available or to place a bid, contact Kevin Fiur at [email protected] or (512) 505-2308.
