Traffix Announces its Distributed Signaling Grid (G-SDC) as Part of its Diameter Signaling Delivery Controller (SDC) for LTE Networks
Carriers Benefit from Distributed Network Routing With Centralized Management for Reliable Top Performance and Optimized Network Resource Allocation
FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, New Jersey, July 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
Traffix Systems, the Diameter control plane experts, today announced its Distributed Signaling Grid (G-SDC) consisting of an intelligent contextual routing layer that unifies multiple Traffix Signaling Delivery Controller (SDC) nodes into a single, network-wide distributed system with centralized management. Based on field-deployed proven technology, the Traffix G-SDC offers a holistic approach for all network-wide signaling, particularly beneficial for large carrier networks with multiple network data centers.
Designed for large scale carrier networks supporting multi-site, policy deployment requirements, the Traffix G-SDC provides carriers with a powerful signaling "cloud" enabling each element to interconnect to any point, efficiently routing its signaling traffic without concern for network resource availability. This cloud-like configuration for signaling exceeds large carrier's requirements for LTE network performance.
"As LTE is deployed and data use surges, signaling traffic grows exponentially and operators will need new tools to handle large signaling surges. The Traffix G-SDC can simplify and harmonize networks to maintain reliability and scalability," commented Sue Rudd, Director Service Provider Analysis at Strategy Analytics. "This is a welcome solution for large scale deployments that should lower operational and capital expenses and provide interoperability with legacy 2.5 and 3G networks."
The Traffix Distributed Signaling Grid is constantly aware of interconnecting node availability, and is able to shift signaling flows to servers based on their availability and capacity. Simultaneously, it maintains network-wide, distributed state information enabling all the signaling routing components to work in harmony. Its built-in throttling capabilities actively monitor and manage traffic from each node, limiting throughput to servers based on their rated capacity. In situations of overload, the G-SDC can detect which packets should be dropped to prevent servers from overwhelming the network, leading to outages.
When carriers deploy the Traffix Distributed Signaling Grid, the message origin or subscriber location is irrelevant - it will always be routed to the correct server or service," said Lenny Ridel, CTO at Traffix Systems. "This advanced dynamic routing technology guarantees throughput, minimize latency and downtime. As a result, the LTE network performs consistently and predictable, coordinated to perfection despite the huge scale of many data centers and the distributed nature of the signaling flows."
About Traffix Signaling Delivery Controller (SDC)
As a single Diameter platform, the Traffix SDC offers operators cost-effective scalability, instant connectivity of all interfaces, and comprehensive control of IP-based signaling while saving up to 70% on OPEX and CAPEX. As a future-proof, end-to-end solution, the SDC already supports over 50 Diameter interfaces for more than a dozen widely-used protocols such as RADIUS, LDAP, XML, JMS and others. On top of the cost and time efficiencies of one platform and one configuration, the SDC brings new functionalities to enhance operational and marketing capabilities such as patented subscriber context-awareness to extract business intelligence from real-time signaling and a management tool for wide visibility into the network for 24/7 troubleshooting.
