Trace3 Honors Renown Health CIO Ron Fuschillo for Transforming Remote Care Delivery in Rural Nevada
Renown lauded for driving technology innovation to improve patient care, the patient experience
IRVINE, Calif., June 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Trace3, a pioneer in business transformation solutions, today announced that its 2017 Outlier Award has been given to Ron Fuschillo, CIO of Renown Health, at Trace3's annual leadership and technology conference, EVOLVE, which took place May 17-19, 2017, in Las Vegas. The Trace3 Outlier Award was created to recognize technology leaders who adopt innovative technologies to transform their businesses and drive market success. Winners are selected by an independent panel of judges.
In the healthcare industry, Renown is leading the way in the areas of TeleHealth and communications. With a largely rural population in Northern Nevada, telehealth is a vital part of healthcare delivery, allowing care providers to visit electronically with patients.
As CIO of Renown Health, Ron leads an organization that continues to transform and modernize remote care delivery and business operations with technology innovation. Under his leadership, Renown has made great strides improving the scope and reach of the hospital's overall communications platforms with significant recent investments in unified communications systems that offer enhanced wireless capabilities and improved call handling.
Specifically, Ron drove significant progress modernizing Renown Healthcare's technology infrastructure, including its data center, to improve overall patient care while supporting the hospital's long term growth plans. Under his leadership, the hospital selected Switch SUPERNap with locations in Reno and Las Vegas to eliminate geographic redundancy and create high performance applications that improve the end-user experience, while aligning IT spend with organizational priorities.
"I am honored to be recognized by Trace3 as this year's Outlier recipient," said Fuschillo. "Trace3's EVOLVE truly celebrates technology innovation, and leaves attendees inspired about the future of technology, and passionate about embracing the latest innovations to transform their business."
"The culture at Renown is very much focused on the patient, and we had to move IT's language and approach to be in alignment," Fuschillo added. "Our goals were always similar, but now we align around the patient experience, which unifies our teams. Working in healthcare requires the ability to live in two worlds, and I'm proud of our team for embracing the nuanced ways that we can improve how IT works with the rest of the organization while managing huge change in the data center."
As the Renown IT team continues to grow, Ron makes mentorship a foundational part of the fabric within IT.
"From the day a person starts in our group, we hook them up with a mentor," said Fuschillo. "Seeing people grow their career is an important part of what we are doing here, and we often see people achieve more than they ever thought they could."
