Trace3 Awards Tom Mendoza Prestigious 2017 Outlier Lifetime Achievement Award
IRVINE, Calif., May 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Trace3, a pioneer in business transformation solutions, today announced that the company awarded its prestigious 2017 Outlier Lifetime Achievement Award to Tom Mendoza, Vice Chairman of NetApp. The award was presented to Mr. Mendoza by Trace3 CEO Tyler Beecher during the Trace3 Evolve Leadership and Technology Conference.
The Outlier Lifetime Achievement Award honors individuals who throughout their careers have consistently delivered dynamic innovation and outstanding leadership in the field of information technology.
When addressing the audience after receiving the award, Mr. Mendoza stated, "This is not an individual award," and went on to congratulate all of his associates at NetApp, and thanked NetApp's founders as well as former NetApp Chairman and CEO Dan Warmenhoven for their tremendous support.
Mr. Mendoza joined NetApp in 1994 and was responsible for sales until becoming president in 2000. And in 2009 he became NetApp's vice chairman. Mr. Mendoza is a firm believer in the power of corporate culture and its ability to help businesses thrive. He has given talks all over the world on leadership and culture. His focus on the importance of corporate culture has earned NetApp recognition as a best place to work in America and built NetApp into a successful publicly traded company celebrating 20 years as a public company.
Mr. Mendoza's business excellence can only be surpassed by his philanthropic accomplishments. His dedication to childhood cancer research secured NetApp's position as the #1 corporate fund raiser for St. Baldrick's Foundation. NetApp initially partnered with St. Baldrick's in 2007 and helped turn a St. Patrick's Day event in New York City into a worldwide effort to raise funds for children with cancer. In September 2000, the University of Notre Dame renamed its business school the Mendoza College of Business after an endowment made by Tom and Kathy Mendoza.
Nearly one-thousand people attended the 2017 Outlier Award Gala at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The Roaring '20s themed gala was hosted by Trace3 and served as the closing event of the Evolve Leadership and Technology conference. Tom Mendoza is the second individual to be honored with the 2017 Outlier Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2016, John Chambers of Cisco Systems was named the first-ever Outlier Lifetime Achievement Award winner.
