TP-LINK Combines Wi-Fi and PLC in a Single Device with Hy-Fi
New Hy-Fi products provide solutions for difficult to reach areas of the home or office to connect wirelessly
CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif., Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- TP-LINK, a global provider of networking products, today announced the introduction of Hy-Fi products to their growing portfolio of home and office networking devices. Hy-Fi blends the advantages of Wi-Fi and PLC Homeplug technologies into a single device so when in the living room with your HD TV streaming the football game through your Set Top box, your son can also be playing his favorite video game, also using a stable powerline connection.
The Hy-Fi router aggregates the wireless and powerline connections, giving you not just more bandwidth, but more reliable bandwidth, with applications balanced over the two connections automatically, ensuring an interruption-free experience, particularly with latency-sensitive applications. So, if the football game leaves the game console with too little bandwidth, the Hy-Fi router will automatically connect it to a wireless connection, leaving your PLC connected Set Top box with enough bandwidth to seat you through to the end of the game and your son climbing the leader boards unhindered.
The Hy-Fi router uses two unique features to channel traffic over the network. Intelligent Path Selection allows the router to choose the best available interface through which to transmit data, based upon connected client device requirements. At the same time, Path Switching allows the router to re-assign traffic to the other connection if it experiences link degradation, without the user noticing the change has ever occurred.
Expanding a wireless network also becomes easier with Hy-Fi by using the PLC network to transfer data to a difficult to reach area of a home or office and simply plugging in a Wi-Fi PLC to connect to the network and expand it wirelessly from there.
