Toy State Revs Into High Gear at Daytona 500
Kicks off five-race sponsorship with Tommy Baldwin Racing
NORWOOD, Mass., Jan. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Toy State, a toy industry leader and innovator, has signed on as primary sponsor for the Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) No. 7 car beginning at the 2015 Daytona 500®. The Nikko/Toy State car is currently being prepped for NASCAR's marquee race on February 22.
"For nearly six decades, Toy State and Nikko-branded toys have created the thrill of auto racing through imaginative play," said Andy Friess, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing. "We're taking these thrills from fantasy to reality through our sponsorship with Tommy Baldwin Racing."
This announcement builds on an aggressive 2014 growth story, which included Toy State's first acquisition when the company purchased Nikko, global leaders in radio-controlled (R/C) toys since 1958. In 2015, Nikko-branded R/C vehicles make their return to the U.S. market under the Toy State umbrella.
"Toy State has been a leader in the toy car business for 30 years," said Tommy Baldwin Jr., President of Tommy Baldwin Racing, "and they are everything the TBR team looks for in a partner – innovative, competitive and willing to challenge the status quo. We're excited to have them as the No. 7 car's primary sponsor."
This sponsorship will cover the initial five races of the 2015 Sprint Cup Series. In addition to car graphics, all driver/team apparel and signage will bear Nikko and Toy State logos, along with the redesigned branding of the company's industry-leading 'lights & sound' brand, Road Rippers.
"The Daytona 500 is the crown jewel of the racing year, making it the perfect venue to re-launch Nikko R/C to the U.S. market and introduce the new look of Road Rippers," said Friess. "It's going to be a great day at the races!"
