Toxicology Expert Renee Hartsook Joins UL Environment, Inc.
Health Risk Expert to Assess Products, Support Development of Environmental Standards
NORTHBROOK, Ill., Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- UL Environment, Inc. (ULE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Underwriters Laboratories (UL), announces Renee Hartsook, Ph.D., DABT as the organization's new senior toxicologist. Hartsook will lead health hazard risk assessments for products and substances, providing technical leadership in toxicological assessment and the development of sustainability standards.

Hartsook has served as a toxicology consultant to the pharmaceutical, medical device, consumer products and commodity chemical industries. Her prior experience includes serving as a research associate for the American Lung Association of California, where she developed Reference Exposure Levels (RELs) to support the California Air Toxics "Hot Spots" Program.
Hartsook holds a doctorate degree in pharmacology and toxicology from the University of California, Davis. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology, member of the American College of Toxicology and Society of Toxicology, and recipient of the Society of Toxicology's Mary O. Amdur Award for contributions to the area of environmental health.
