LEIPZIG, Germany, May 13 /PRNewswire/ - Touch Bionics (www.touchbionics.com), developer of advanced upper-limb bionic technologies, yesterday began a four-day exhibition at the combined International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) World Congress and ORTHOPÄDIE + REHA-TECHNIK tradeshow in Leipzig, Germany. Users of Touch Bionics' products, including a bionic hand-wearing DJ and a ProDigits user who lost his fingers while serving in Afghanistan are among the highlights for event attendees.
Three years ago, Touch Bionics first made its appearance at the ISPO World Congress in Vancouver following the launch of its first groundbreaking product, the i-LIMB Hand.
"It's incredible to look back over the past three years and see how far we have come in such a short time," said Stuart Mead, Touch Bionics' CEO. "When we went to Vancouver, we were a relatively unknown company with an exciting new technology. Fast forward to today and Touch Bionics has grown into a leader in the prosthetics industry, with several world-leading products and a growing clinical expertise to its business."
"Visitors to our booth in Leipzig are seeing for themselves that Touch Bionics is truly at the forefront of the bionic generation," added Mead.
Some of the key highlights from Touch Bionics in Leipzig include: - The i-LIMB Pulse: The recently launched product is the latest addition to the company's i-LIMB product line - uniquely managed via a Bluetooth-enabled software controller. - ProDigits: The world's first powered prosthetic solution for people with missing digits, launched in December 2009. This unique technology is being demonstrated for the first time Europe. - LIVINGSKIN: Touch Bionics' functional aesthetic restoration solutions will be on display and visitors to the company's stand can see live, hand-painting of silicone by a LIVINGSKIN expert. - Touch Light: Touch Bionics has developed a groundbreaking new distance colour matching system that captures accurate skin tone, features and shape, in a single calibrated and light-controlled desktop device. - Workshops and sessions: Touch Bionics' experts are presenting a range of educational sessions at both events in Leipzig, including tracks focused on partial hand prosthesis development, collaborative development practices, occupational therapy and the new i-LIMB Pulse.
