IRVINE, Calif., June 28, 2016 "Toshiba's UCedge softphone gives Mac computer users the ability to use their devices as extensions on their VIPedge®, IPedge® or Hybrid Cloud business communications solution," said Brian Metherell, vice president and general manager of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division. "Using the softphone enhances the UC benefits, including presence and instant messaging with both internal and external organizations."
Now available for download at Chrome Web Store™, UCedge is compatible with Toshiba's VIPedge cloud-based business telephone solution, IPedge on-site Unified Communications system, and Strata® CIX systems with an IPedge Application Server, as well as Toshiba's Hybrid Cloud solution.
UCedge delivers a full suite of UC capabilities wherever business takes you, including:
- Built-in softphone functions as an extension on the system with a headset or speakerphone
- Federation of Presence and Instant Messaging with external users on Microsoft® Skype® for Business (Lync®) Server users and external organizations using Toshiba's UCedge clients
- Cloud-synchronized call and IM history information across all your devices
- Contact Center capabilities, including the ability for agents and supervisors to log into the contact center using a smartphone, PC or Mac computer, allowing them to manage customer calls and their own settings from virtually anywhere
Compatibility & Licensing
Toshiba's new UCedge R2.5 is compatible with IPedge EM, EC and EP business communications systems as well as Strata CIX phone systems with an IPedge Application Server. It also brings the power of unified communications and mobility to users of Toshiba's VIPedge cloud-based business communications solution and Toshiba's Hybrid Cloud solution.
UCedge client software, including softphone, runs on Android™ and iOS® smartphones and Windows® and Mac OS X computers.
UCedge, including the new softphone for Mac OS X users, requires a licensing fee for IPedge and Strata CIX users. Toshiba's VIPedge includes UCedge at no extra cost in the per-user monthly fee. Toshiba also offers UCedge Essentials, a free version with core features.
