IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division (Toshiba — www.telecom.toshiba.com) today announced IPedge® Software Release 1.7, delivering security updates to protect IPedge premise telephone systems from the latest security threats. IPedge 1.7 is now available from Authorized Toshiba Dealers.
IPedge 1.7 also includes an upgrade of its Linux® Operating system, which delivers a significant performance improvement on network and disk I/O processing for IPedge systems.
With this new release, new IPedge users can also now take advantage of Toshiba's limited free 60-day trial licenses, so they can "try applications before they buy." Included in the free trial license are Unified Messaging, UCedge® unified communications and Automated Call Distribution (ACD) contact center applications. In addition, with this upgrade, current IPedge, ACD and UCedge users can now transfer existing licenses between sites, which deliver added flexibility and cost savings, particularly for contact centers.
"At Toshiba, we are dedicated to delivering the latest security measures to protect our IPedge customers from ever-growing security threats and to provide the flexibility they need to maximize their use of valuable contact center and unified communications applications," said Brian Metherell, vice president and general manager of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division.
Security Updates Protect IPedge Users
Toshiba's IPedge Software Release 1.7 security updates put users ahead of today's most dangerous security threats, including SQL injection attacks, unauthorized login access and attempts, and data access via enhanced encryption.
New IPedge Trial Licenses Service and License Site Transfers
Toshiba's free trial licenses enable IPedge users to try applications before they buy them, including ACD contact center and UCedge unified communications applications. Free trial licenses can only be enabled for companies who do not currently have users licensed for those applications.
Current IPedge ACD and UCedge users can now transfer existing licenses between sites, which deliver added flexibility and cost savings, particularly for contact centers. Authorized Toshiba Dealers can set up the multi-site license transfers for existing IPedge customers.
IPedge Delivers High-Performance Communications on a Secure Linux Server
Toshiba's award-winning IPedge delivers advanced capabilities on a secure Linux based VMware server. One industry-standard server handles the call control, productivity and communications needs, including call processing, unified messaging, unified communications, mobility and centralized administration.
Toshiba ACD Enables Seamless Integration of Remote and On-site Agents
Toshiba's ACD contact center application treats agents in multiple locations as one system. The system checks agent status in remote locations before routing calls to those agents. Functions such as presence status and instant messaging extend over the network. Remote or mobile contact center agents can even use their smartphones as extensions of the business phone system. IPedge 1.7 free trial license includes ACD Agent, ACD Unifier, ACD MMQ and IPedge-Net. The ACD trial license requires Toshiba's ACD-Ready IPedge Virtual Server.
UCedge Lets Users Communicate How, Where and When They Want
UCedge is Toshiba's fully featured unified communications solution, giving users the power to communicate how, where and when they want — via smartphone, PC or tablet — by unifying their communications across platforms. UCedge increases productivity for users in different locations and on diverse Toshiba and third-party platforms, including Microsoft Skype® for Business.
Available for Android™ and Apple® smartphones and tablets as well as Windows® and Mac® laptop and desktop computers, the UCedge mobility app can be downloaded for free from Google Play™, the Apple App Store™ and Google Chrome Web Store™. UCedge works with Toshiba's VIPedge® cloud and IPedge premise telephone systems as well as Strata® CIX systems with an IPedge Application Server.
