Tosca Opens New Wash Center to Optimize Service to Customers & Accommodate Growth

CHICAGO, March 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Growers, suppliers, and grocery retailers using Tosca reusable plastic containers (RPCs) can now transport perishables more efficiently thanks to a newly opened Tosca service center in Bridgeview, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. This centrally located service center complements Tosca's expansive nationwide network, including its customer's distribution centers and processing facilities. The Bridgeview center, which began operating in early February, allows Tosca to be more responsive to customers by reducing delivery time and turnaround time.  

"We're always striving to provide our customers with cost-effective supply chain solutions, and our new service center outside Chicago allows us to do that by shortening the distance RPCs travel between our customers and retail stores," says Eric Frank, president of Tosca. "Basically, it ensures a high level of service: our produce, eggs, meat, and poultry containers are always available and ready for use whenever our customers need them."

Additionally, Frank says, the plant allows Tosca to eliminate unnecessary transportation, thereby reducing fuel consumption—a key aspect of the company's mission to eliminate waste at every turn along the supply chain.

"We're constantly evaluating the best network infrastructure," says Mike Wasson, Tosca's vice president of supply chain and operations, adding that Tosca is planning to open another plant in Southern California later this spring. "By optimizing our service center network, we're creating more efficient supply chains, which ultimately save our customers time and money."

The Chicago service center is Tosca's twelfth plant nationwide, expanding the company's robust network and strengthening its position as the premier RPC provider in the country. This new service center will create more than 60 jobs.
