Toronto Homecoming kicks off fourth annual international event to bring local leaders back home
80 TALENTED PROFESSIONALS WILL RETURN HOME TO TORONTO FROM MAY 9 TO 11, 2013
TORONTO, May 7, 2013 /CNW/ - Toronto Homecoming will launch its fourth annual event this week with a three-day conference to encourage professionals living abroad to return home to Toronto and explore job opportunities within the city.
"There are thousands of talented Canadians living abroad who would like to return to Toronto but find it challenging to find the right job," said Andrew Graham, Co-Chair, Toronto Homecoming. "This event matches up these individuals with companies looking for global talent and helps remove some of the barriers for them to return and reconnect with the community."
The event runs from May 9 to May 11 and will begin on Thursday May 9 with an opening night reception gala. Toronto Homecoming 2013 will include networking sessions, workshops, keynotes from Toronto business leaders, city tours and receptions with past participants and corporate partners.
"This event has grown over the past four years with a record number of applications this year, so we look forward to building on that success to enhance economic growth in Toronto and highlight our global business mindset," added Eva Wong Scanlan, Co-Chair, Toronto Homecoming. "Over the past three years we have hosted 200 participants from over 25 countries and almost half have returned to work in Toronto."
Attendees are professionals in the early-to-mid stages of their careers and typically Canadians who live abroad and want to return to the city. Participation in the conference is limited and applicants were assessed on their educational backgrounds and professional experience.
