MINNEAPOLIS, May 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On the heels of its March announcement, ONE20 today released the inaugural TopONE20 report. The report, which contains more than a half-million data points, is a comprehensive analysis providing insights on travel center ratings and reviews, technology usage, spending habits and entertainment and leisure preferences.
To date, more than 3,000 drivers have participated and provided data points for the TopONE20 report. The compiled data includes driver demographics such as age, gender and owner/operator or company driver status and has allowed ONE20 to identify unique trends in the above listed categories.
"The information we've compiled from the driving community for the TopONE20 report is invaluable to the industry. We now know how many drivers are making online purchases, the technology drivers are using based on their ages, the payment methods they're using on a day-to-day basis and their off-duty entertainment preferences," said Christian Schenk, president and CEO of ONE20. "We're working to improve life on the road for professional drivers and this data will enable us to better work with industry partners to create change."
With these driver-collected insights, the TopONE20 report identified the best and worst in class for travel centers down to store amenity levels. TA and Petro Stopping Centers was voted and awarded Most Preferred Travel Center Chain along with receiving "best in class" votes for best parking, cleanest facilities, including nicest showers, and best restaurants. In the food and dining category, Subway received Best Quick Serve Restaurant while Iron Skillet is the favorite for Best Sit Down Restaurant.
"We are extremely pleased, but not surprised with these results. When professional drivers have independent means to vote for their favorite truck stops and those that offer the best amenities and services, TA and Petro Stopping Centers come out on top," said Tom Liutkus, senior vice president of marketing and public relations at TravelCenters of America. "This reinforces our own "Voted Best" survey results for the past 8-10 years running. Drivers know who takes care of them and we're proud to serve the professional truck driver with those high standards. We are grateful to ONE20 for asking drivers about these important areas of service."
ONE20 acknowledged these institutions by sending crystal plaques to the companies' chief executive officers and will be sending window decals to the individual stores who were voted a Favorite Location.
In addition to the best voted, the TopONE20 Report has also identified specifics around driver's least favorite preferences.
"We know which travel center chains were voted least favorite in a number of categories, and we're not afraid to call out the industry giants that came in last," Schenk said. "Drivers are very transparent and told us exactly what the industry needs to hear - we can do better. If your best customers are unhappy with your parking, or think your bathrooms are dirty, it may be time for a change."
ONE20 will continue to add to the information collected in the initial TopONE20 report. During the next quarter, ONE20 hopes to better understand how drivers obtain insurance, how they make large purchases such as tires and what their experiences are with banking and factoring groups. The second report will be available sometime in July of 2017.
