LA GRANGE, Ill., Oct. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Impact Architectural Signs (http://www.impactsigns.com/) has partnered with Bechtel Corporation and the California Valley Solar Ranch to provide the metal letters at the entrance to the facility. This is no ordinary project, as the local environment is less than forgiving. Located on the Carizzo Plain, this semi-arid region of Southern California endures near-endless sunshine and low humidity. The company behind the solar ranch, NRG Energy, wanted exterior signage that was both aesthetically pleasing and durable, making Impact Signs a logical choice.

Once completed at the end of 2013, the California Valley Solar Ranch will be among the largest solar power plants in the world. The plant will have a capacity of 250 MW and provide electricity for up to 100,000 homes. Naturally, the choice of the Carizzo Plain as the location for the California Solar Ranch was no accident. As an arid grassland, the Carizzo Plain is warm, dry and sunny for most of the year. Water is in short supply, which has largely discouraged urban development in the area.
Harsh climates are no obstacle for Impact Architectural Signs, a company that creates and installs signage work all over the United States. The California Solar Ranch project goes to show the team can install exterior signage anywhere. "We understand what it means to create signage that will resist the elements," explained Shabbir Moosabhoy, co-owner of Impact Architectural Signs. "Many of our satisfied customers are in the Greater Chicago area, where hot, humid summers are followed by cold, snowy winters, a challenging environment for outdoor signs and graphics. This is the proving ground for our stainless steel letters and other plaques and signage."
Moosabhoy continued: "Since our founding over 20 years ago, we have developed techniques for creating artful letters and signage that won't corrode, regardless of what Mother Nature throws at us. We're proud to be an important part of helping companies across the US build their brands."
The California Valley Solar Ranch signage incorporates Corten steel letters, a popular choice for outdoor steel applications ranging from bridges to artwork. Corten steel letters are designed to develop a rusty, weathered appearance over the course of several years. The outer layer of rust then forms a shield against further corrosion, constantly renewing itself by way of a slow chemical reaction. In an arid environment such as the Carizzo Plain, these metal letters will last indefinitely.
Impact Architectural Signs is an established national leader in the creation of memorable signage and environmental graphics. With specialties in bronze plaques and stainless steel plaques, both indoor and outdoor, the company has completed numerous projects in its home city of Chicago, in addition to projects all across the US. The California Valley Solar Ranch project shows that Impact Signs is a company built to thrive within the Windy City and beyond.
As of July 2013, customers can order metal letters online through the Impact Signs website. Customers can also request free samples of the company's products, or receive a quick quote on any potential project. Learn more at the official Impact Signs website: http://www.impactsigns.com/.
