SAN DIEGO, June 23, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Before thousands attending its annual conference, CAPG announced today the results of its 2017 Standards of ExcellenceTM (SOE®) member survey. The survey rankings are given to physician groups based on their performance in six domains of risk-based, coordinated care delivery.
"Our Standards of Excellence™ survey is recognized as the industry standard by which the nation's healthcare systems can assess the delivery of accountable and value-based care and improve patient care coordination, in line with the nation's movement towards alternative payment models," said Donald Crane, CAPG President and CEO.
The voluntary SOE® survey is offered to almost 300 CAPG medical group members in 43 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. This year, 140 organizational members participated, covering 10.7 million lives in commercial lines of business and 3 million in Medicare Advantage, along with an additional estimated 4.1 million individuals in state government managed care programs.
"Notably this year, the majority of the Clinical Quality Leadership Committee voted to raise the bar for SOE® by increasing the attainment thresholds for each domain, aligning with the program's mission to drive enhanced performance and quality of care," said Amy Nguyen Howell, MD, CAPG's Chief Medical Officer.
"I'm so proud of our physician groups and their physicians for providing effective, high-value, patient-centered care to align with national quality standards."
2017 Survey Highlights:
- One hundred and forty medical groups, health systems, and IPAs participated in the 11th year of SOE®.
- Eighty-seven physician organizations achieved the coveted Elite honor in 2017. That total increased by sixteen groups from 2016, despite the growing drive for improved performance.
- Sixty-two percent of participating physician group members received Elite designation.
- Twenty-nine new organizations achieved Elite status, including three first-time SOE® participants.
- Participation is voluntary for CAPG members. Survey results and additional information are available at http://capg.org/soe.
