Top Healthcare Industry Influencer, Robert J. Henkel, LFACHE Joins The THEO Executive Group As President, Healthcare Transformation
Expansion of leadership reinforces commitment by firm to support a nationwide movement to revitalize healthcare professionals and ensure community access to affordable, quality healthcare
DALLAS, March 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The THEO Executive Group, LLC, a healthcare transformational advisory firm, today announced the appointment of Robert J. Henkel, LFACHE as the president of healthcare transformation, effective January 1, 2019.
As the healthcare industry undergoes major change, THEO is facilitating a movement to engage C-suite leaders to proactively drive true transformation. Health systems across the country are moving to value-based care to improve outcomes, reduce costs and increase consumer satisfaction. The focus is shifting more to nurturing and improving health status, and doing so by empowering people and implementing technology. With the current state of health care, however, being fragmented, change is slow and difficult to navigate. It is imperative that today's leaders deliver transformational reform to rein in costs, improve quality and expand access to care to the entire community. In addition, healthcare workers are experiencing burnout and lessened satisfaction. Leaders of healthcare transformation must value and sponsor their people and invite their best contribution by extending sponsorship, community, and individual development.
The appointment of Henkel is an important step in enabling a movement intended to deliver that transformation in healthcare today. Henkel is considered one of healthcare's most influential and committed leaders. With decades of industry experience, he most recently retired as president and chief executive officer for Ascension Healthcare, where he spent much of his career striving to eliminate health disparities by closing gaps in access, safety and personalized care and embracing diversity and inclusion.
"THEO's vision is to influence the transformation of healthcare in partnership with key enterprises and their leaders. The organization does this by the power of ideas and ideals and by inviting the extraordinary in people like Bob Henkel, who are visionary and courageous leaders," said Theo Theodosiou, founder and chief executive officer of THEO. "He has spent his life and career committed to serving all people, to providing care to all, with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable. We are proud to have someone of Bob's caliber and influence join our passionate team."
In this new role, Henkel will be responsible for leading the Vision, Strategy, and Plan to positively influence the transformation of the industry in partnership with the top thinkers and leaders inside and outside of healthcare, committed to this cause.
"I believe this work will afford me the opportunity to continue to contribute to a future where all people are assured the ability to achieve their full health potential." said Bob Henkel.
Prior to joining Ascension, Henkel's career included leadership positions at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York, and Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida. He holds a bachelor's in economics and a master's in public health.
Henkel has also served in various roles in the community, including board chair of the Catholic Health Association of the United States; board chair for Marian Middle School, an all-girls school in St. Louis; board member with the United Way of Greater St. Louis; board member with the Coalition to Protect America's Health Care; Life Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives; and a member of the Healthcare Executives Network.
