Top Dog: Royal Canin Named One Of St. Louis' Best Places To Work
St. Louis-based global pet care company ranked #44 best place to work in Fifth-Annual St. Louis Post-Dispatch "Top Workplaces" Survey
ST. CHARLES, Mo., June 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- For St. Louis area employees, pets not only make life better: they make work better, too. Just ask the employees of Royal Canin, a global leader in pet health nutrition, who was ranked #44 by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in its annual list of Top Workplaces. Royal Canin was among 125 companies chosen for the honor out of a pool of 1,200 companies nominated this year.
"At Royal Canin, we pride ourselves on having an engaging work environment that encourages associates' growth and overall well-being," said Keith Levy, President of Royal Canin USA. "Our business is truly a team sport and this recognition is a testimony to our company's dedication to our associates and their dedication to the entire organization. We are humbled and honored to be recognized in the St. Louis community alongside other great businesses."
Now in its fifth year, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Top Workplaces initiative recognizes companies that focus on organizational health – values, leadership, culture – as well as unique employee perks and benefits. For Royal Canin's nearly 1,000 employees, called associates, those unique perks include a pet-friendly environment and the flexibility to balance one's work and personal life. Associates also cited growth and a culture based in putting cats and dogs first as motivating factors which keep them engaged with the company.
Amy Maier, Royal Canin Talent and Engagement Manager, said: "I'm so proud to see Royal Canin USA included on the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Top Workplaces list. Every day, my company positively affects the lives of pets and pet owners because of my contributions. As an associate, I know that my work matters. To put it simply, when I wake up in the morning I don't 'have' to go to work; I'm one of the lucky few that 'gets' to go to work at this fabulous company."
To produce the annual list of Top Workplaces, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch partners with WorkplaceDynamics, a survey firm whose services have reached over 13 million employees from more than 35,000 organizations in St. Louis over the past five years. Confidential surveys are sent to the employees of participating businesses and respondents are asked to rate their workplaces on a seven-point scale from "strongly disagree" to "strongly agree." To ensure that the survey results provided accurate reflections of workplace satisfaction, WorkplaceDynamics requires a response rate of at least 35 percent of employees. Approximately 85 percent of Royal Canin's nearly 1,000 employees participated in the survey.
