MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- My Dog's Name (www.mydogsname.com), a leading website for finding the perfect name for your pup, has released the list of top dog names in 2018. The results are based on the search selections of the 4.3 million dog owners who used the site this year for their new pet.
For the top male dog names, there was a huge surprise: Max is no longer in the top 10 for the first time since the site started in 2013. It was down to number 27 on the list of male dogs named in 2018.
The rest of the most popular male dog names were a mix of tried-and-true favorites including Milo, Buddy, Bear and Charlie.
As for the female dog names, once again the name Bella topped the chart. The name exploded in popularity over a decade ago with the release of Twilight. Even though the vampire series is no longer in the spotlight like it used to be, Bella is still the top choice when people get a female dog.
Interestingly, the top five female dog names – Bella, Abby, Daisy, Luna and Bailey, respectively – were the exact same as last year. The list did have one noteworthy change, however. The name Coco shot up from the 14th spot up to 7th, most likely due to the popularity of the Pixar animated movie of the same name.
