Top Cantor Deputy and Longtime Leadership Aide Kyle Nevins to Join Capitol Counsel
WASHINGTON, March 22, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Capitol Counsel LLC, one of Washington's leading bipartisan lobbying firms, today announced that longtime Republican leadership aide Kyle Nevins has joined the firm as its newest principal. Capitol Counsel is a full service lobbying firm recognized for its expertise in tax, healthcare, financial services, energy, commerce and industrial policy.
Nevins joins the firm after serving as Majority Leader Eric Cantor's Deputy Chief of Staff for the past two years, where he managed the House's legislative agenda and worked as the Leader's top committee liaison covering the widest variety of issues. He also provided strategic counsel to House Republican Elected Leadership, attending regular planning sessions with Speaker John Boehner, Leader Cantor and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy.
"Kyle has been a trusted advisor to me and an invaluable resource to Republican Members of the House for over a decade. There are few who understand the process, policy, and politics of the House--and Congress--better than Kyle. I am sorry to be losing his close counsel but am happy for his wife Kristan and him as they start a new chapter in Kyle's career," said Majority Leader Eric Cantor.
"Kyle's strategic counsel has been a dynamic influence on Capitol Hill. His deep understanding of the legislative process and his experience on a broad range of issues will be an invaluable asset to clients," said former Congressman and Capitol Counsel partner Jim McCrery.
"Understanding the interaction between the committee process, the leadership and the effective movement of legislation through the legislative process is critical for our clients. Kyle has worked with every major committee in those efforts and his knowledge and strategic leadership will be a great complement to our existing leadership-experienced team and a valued perspective for our clients and growing practice," said John D. Raffaelli, Capitol Counsel's Founding Partner.
"I am excited to start the next phase of my career with Capitol Counsel. I have had the honor of working closely with Majority Leader Cantor to help pass some important legislation and I look forward to applying my knowledge and insights to my new position," said Nevins.
Nevins also served as Floor Director for the House Republican Whip Offices of Eric Cantor and now-Senator Roy Blunt. He currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia and participates in guest lectures for the Executive Education program at the Brookings Institute. He is a graduate of Duke University and has studied at the University College London.
