TONIGHT: Texas Celebrities Raise Awareness for Education Reform During National School Choice Week Event in Dallas
DALLAS, Jan. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Grammy Award-winning performer Patti Austin, local artist Matt Wilson, and renowned commentator Tom Joyner will headline a special National School Choice Week event tonight in Dallas. The event, which will coincide with the launch of the Dallas Chapter of the organization Right to Succeed, is designed to raise awareness about the need to dramatically improve the public school system in Dallas.
The event, which will include entertainment and inspirational speeches, is free and open to the public. It will take place at 7 PM at the Life School Dallas (4400 South R.L. Thorton Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75224).
"National School Choice Week is brining together celebrities, lawmakers, families and so many others to highlight the urgent need to provide a better education to our children," said Kyle Olson, executive director of National School Choice Week. "Tonight's event in Dallas combines education and entertainment to boost public interest in the need to enhance educational options for children."
Right to Succeed, which is planning the event, is dedicated to increasing student graduation rates through leadership opportunities, mentorship, and education reform.
