Tom Ebling Joins Demandware as Chief Executive Officer
Former CEO of ProfitLogic and Torrent Systems Brings Rich Retail Experience and Track Record of Driving Growth to Industry Leader in On-Demand eCommerce
WOBURN, Mass., Feb. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Demandware, Inc., the global leader in on-demand ecommerce, today announced the appointment of Tom Ebling to Chief Executive Officer. Ebling brings more than 20 years of senior leadership in business management and software development to Demandware. With a solid reputation for driving rapid growth in emerging companies, Ebling will lead Demandware into its next phase, widespread market adoption of its on-demand ecommerce platform.
"The ecommerce marketplace is on the verge of a renaissance as rigid legacy commerce platforms are proving inadequate for retailers looking to continuously be at the forefront of the consumer online experience," said Ebling. "Demandware has demonstrated a much more rapid rate of growth than the largest players in the industry over the past year with customer wins for its platform. And as more retailers seek out solutions to power their next-generation initiatives, I'm thrilled to join the company that is leading the way with a truly on-demand ecommerce platform that meets the needs of innovative retailers."
Ebling's retail technology experience includes serving as chief executive officer of ProfitLogic, the industry leader in merchandising optimization solutions, which he led to successful acquisition by Oracle in 2005. Previously, Ebling acted as CEO of Torrent Systems, a data warehousing and analytics software provider acquired by Ascential Software in 2001. Ebling also spent 18 years of his career helping to grow Marcam Solutions from a startup to $200 million in revenues and a successful IPO. Most recently, Ebling served as CEO of Lattice Engines, a startup offering sales and optimization solutions to large sales organizations.
"Tom's operational excellence in the retail software sector will enable him to focus on scaling Demandware right out of the gate," said Stephan Schambach, founder and chairman of Demandware. "Speaking for Demandware's Board of Directors, I have every confidence that Tom's leadership and experience, coupled with a track record of taking startups through successful exits, will propel Demandware's vision into the new decade."
Ebling earned his bachelors degree in mathematics from Williams College, where he graduated magna cum laude. He also attended Harvard Law School, and holds a patent for inventions in software related to Process Manufacturing at Marcam Corporation. Ebling serves as director on the board of VFA (www.vfa.com), and as chairman of the board of directors for International Development Enterprises (www.ideorg.org). He lives in the Boston area with his wife and their two children.
