NATIONAL HARBOR, Md., Sept. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Neurocritical Care Society (NCS) (headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA) is pleased to announce its upcoming 14th Annual Meeting, this year in National Harbor, MD from September 15-18 at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. This year's meeting involves gathering of the world's best minds in Neurocritical care to review the latest therapies in the field. Neurocritical care is the medical science concerned with management of patients with catastrophic brain, spine and nerve diseases in the Intensive care unit (ICU). More than 1,000 attendees from multidisciplinary healthcare professions including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, scientists, researchers and medical students from nearly 50 countries will participate.
This year's Annual Meeting will feature exciting workshops and ground breaking science, including the Translational Science Symposium featuring Keynote Speaker Walter Koroshetz, Director of NINDS. Additional data from the NEWTON and ATACH 2 Trials will be featured. Both trials' results will change the approach to management of intracerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage in the Neurocritical care unit.
Sessions of note include The Society Keynote Address by Dr. Shari Ling, CMS Deputy Chief Medical Officer, and the WINCC luncheon symposium featuring Keynote Speaker Dr. Marie Baldisseri, Chancellor, Board of Regents American College of Critical Care Medicine. NCS has also partnered with the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM), the Japan Society of Neurological Emergency and Critical Care (JNE), and the Brazilian Neurocritical Care Association (BNCA) to present joint sessions on topics of global interest. Anticipating particularly high attendance is the joint session with BNCA titled 'Brazilian Contributions to Neurocritical Care Beyond Carnival and the Olympics: From the New Concepts of Driving Pressure to Complications of Zika Virus Infection.'
Before the Meeting officially begins, NCS leadership will visit Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. During the visit, NCS leadership will meet with our wounded soldiers to thank them for their services.
