3,000 Participants Expected at Event
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Jan. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Three thousand attendees will gather from across the Colorado Springs area for The Pikes Peak Parent & Colorado Virtual Academy Education Fair today, January 23, 2011. The event coincides with National School Choice Week, a celebration of the benefits of educational opportunities for children.
This free event, which is sponsored by Colorado Virtual Academy and Pikes Peak Parent Magazine will take place from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at The Doubletree Hotel at 1775 East Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard in Colorado Springs.
More than 60 vendors will be available to discuss the education choices parents have for their children—from kindergarten to high school—and to assist parents with the tools to choose the right schools for their children. At the event, parents can also learn more about the differences between public, charter, private and online schools.
"This education fair will make it more convenient for parents to select the right school for their child, no matter what grade," said Brandy Vasquez, Gazette education marketing specialist. "There are schools that cater to the creativity in each child, focusing on performing arts, computers, science and more."
National School Choice Week, January 23-29, 2011, will shine an unprecedented spotlight on the need to dramatically improve educational outcomes for children and will highlight the benefits of school choice programs. Tens of thousands of people are expected to participate in events across the country during the week, which is being organized by more than 150 national and state groups. The event today in Colorado Springs is one of 125 events in 40 states across the country this week.
"This event in Colorado Springs is an important component to National School Choice Week," said Kyle Olson, executive director of National School Choice Week. "Parents in Colorado and across the country deserve the right to choose the best schools for their children, and this event will provide parents with crucial information about their options."
