MIAMI, May 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- TOCA COLOMBIA is a one-night only charity concert sure to entertain and delight South Florida with an unforgettable musical extravaganza presented by the Colombian Youth Philharmonic, comprised of Colombian youth (16 to 24 years old) that come from different social backgrounds. Under the direction of acclaimed maestro Matthew Hazelwood, the benefit concert will take place Friday, September 28 at the New World Center in Miami Beach.
TOCA COLOMBIA, spearheaded by Genesis Foundation and Fundacion Bolivar Davivienda, is a philanthropic event whose goal is to raise funds for educational projects to benefit underserved children and youth in Colombia. TOCA COLOMBIA invites you to take part in this unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a brighter future and better country.
"We are certain the audience will not only be delighted with the extraordinary musical repertoire interpreted by the Colombian Youth Philharmonic, but will also hear the calling from our organizations to support educational and cultural programs that benefit the children and youth of our country," assured Fernando Cortes McAllister, President of Fundacion Bolivar Davivienda.
All proceeds of TOCA COLOMBIA (www.tocacolombia.com) will directly benefit the social and cultural development programs that both foundations support in Colombia. Fundacion Bolivar Davivienda has earmarked those funds for the expansion of social projects that Grupo Bolivar supports across the country. Genesis Foundation has allocated the funds raised during the event for the continuation of "First Learning Steps" (My First Learning Steps), a comprehensive early childhood education program for low-income urban and rural areas in Colombia. The project currently benefits 1,540 children between the ages of 2 and 5 in municipalities throughout the Magdalena and Narino Departments (States).
"First Learning Steps" strengthens the development of the participating children, their families and communities, thanks to sound pedagogical and psycho-social strategies and cooperation with the state to develop benchmarks," explained Carolina Esquenazi-Shaio, President of the Board of Director of the Genesis Foundation.
