ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Aug. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Toastmasters International, the global organization devoted to communication and leadership skills development, has seen its membership increase every year since 1994. Since then, membership has more than doubled. Today, Toastmasters has more than 357,000 members in 16,600 clubs and a presence in 143 countries.
"Our growth is the result of thousands of people benefiting from their membership in tangible ways—such as career promotions and increased confidence in social situations—and then telling others about the benefits they've gained," says Balraj Arunasalam, Toastmasters 2017-2018 International President.
Highlights of Toastmasters' annual growth include:
- 1.4 percent membership increase
- 1,481 new clubs formed
- More than 750 new corporate Toastmasters clubs chartered
- More than 74,000 educational achievement awards earned by members
- The organization's highest rate of growth was outside of North America
"The continued expansion of our members and clubs around the globe shows the importance of improving public speaking and communication skills in the digital age," says Toastmasters Chief Executive Officer Daniel Rex. "With the launch of the Pathways learning experience now complete, we offer our members better tools and resources than ever before. As a result, our members develop and apply the skills learned in club meetings to enhance their success personally and professionally."
