Toast to Living Well Gala Raises $175,000 for Altus Foundation

HOUSTON, Jan. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 1,600 people joined in the spirit of the season at the Altus Foundation's "Toast to Living Well" gala on Saturday, Dec.13, 2014, in Houston. The gala raised $175,000 for the Altus Foundation, which provides resources and support for financially challenged patients in the Houston area in need of healthcare and hospice services. The funds raised will help provide more than $7 million worth of healthcare services to those in need.

Houston-based ZT Wealth and Altus Health host the annual event. Taseer Badar, chief executive officer, and Kraig Killough, chief operating officer, entertained guests this year at the Hilton Americas Hotel in downtown Houston, which was transformed into a "Shanghai Nights"-themed wonderland complete with ice sculptures and hundreds of red Chinese lanterns. Guests had the opportunity to win an Audi Q3 in a special raffle.

This year's event also included a special guest appearance by New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez. A tribute video to Rodriguez was made on his philanthropy in Latin America and his professional career giving him a Texas-sized comeback in 2015 to help the Yankees bring a world championship back to the Bronx. Rodriguez's Mercedes-Benz of Clear Lake has been a grand sponsor for Altus Foundation's "Toast to Living Well" fundraiser for six years. Over this time, Rodriguez's sponsorship has helped to provide healthcare services for indigent patients.

Altus Foundation's board members Chester Pitts and Dave Wallace introduced the foundation's new executive director, Jeffery Wallace. They also presented a special thank you to the foundation board, physicians who volunteered their time, and sponsors for helping the foundation assist families in need this year. "We appreciate the support of our partners and donors in the community who helped make this year's Toast to Living Well such a great success," said Pitts.
