TMX Group Consolidated Trading Statistics - August 2012

TORONTO, Sept. 6, 2012 /CNW/ - TMX Group Limited today announced August 2012 trading statistics for its diversified group of exchanges - Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, Montreal Exchange (MX), Natural Gas Exchange (NGX), TMX Select and Alpha Exchange.
Trading volume on Toronto Stock Exchange was down 7% in August 2012 compared to July 2012, and was down 42% compared to August 2011.
TSX Venture Exchange experienced a 23% increase in volume in August 2012 compared to July 2012, though was down 19% from the same month a year earlier.
Volume on TMX Select was up 8% over July 2012 and was down 13% compared to August 2011. Volume on Alpha fell 1% compared to July 2012 and declined 42% compared to August 2011.
Volume on MX was up 11% in August 2012 compared to July 2012, though was down 13% compared to August 2011. Open interest at the end of August 2012 increased 3% from the end of July 2012, and was up 16% from the end of August 2011.
Volume on NGX increased 10% in August 2012 from July 2012, though was down 13% compared to the same month a year earlier.
