TMS to Offer New Voices for Commentary
CHICAGO, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Aiming to enliven and enhance the world of media commentary, Tribune Media Services (TMS) is introducing a collection of four high-profile columnists covering politics, culture, economics and foreign affairs in its new syndication package, American Voices. The package will feature economist and former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich, Pulitzer Prize-winning foreign affairs writer Joel Brinkley, blogger and political correspondent Ana Marie Cox and The Atlantic senior editor Ta-Nehisi Coates.
Each week, TMS' American Voices package will offer two to three of these talked-about writers, giving readers perspectives that are as entertaining as they are informed.
The American Voices:
Robert Reich: Former U.S. Labor Secretary under President Bill Clinton, Reich now serves as professor of public policy at the University of California at Berkeley. He writes regular commentaries for www.publicradio.org and is the author of 12 books, including his most recent book, "Supercapitalism."
Joel Brinkley: After 20-plus years as a New York Times reporter and Pulitzer Prize-winning foreign correspondent, Brinkley is now the Hearst Professional in Residence for the journalism program at Stanford University. At Stanford he writes a weekly foreign policy column for the San Francisco Chronicle and is currently at work on his fifth book.
Ana Marie Cox: As founding editor of the political blog Wonkette, Cox is a political junkie who recently joined forces with GQ magazine as their Washington, D.C., correspondent. She writes regular features for the magazine and GQ.com, hosts a regular podcast for GQ radio and makes frequent appearances on MSNBC's "The Rachel Maddow Show."
Ta-Nehisi Coates: A senior editor and writer for The Atlantic and its website, Coates has been called "the young James Joyce of the hip-hop generation." He also authored the memoir "The Beautiful Struggle: A Father, Two Sons, and an Unlikely Road to Manhood."
"American Voices is not your traditional left, right and center opinion package," said Mary Elson, managing editor of TMS. "This collection is a rich mix of high-profile commentators covering American society and its relationship to the world, along with insightful takes on the current administration and politics."
